Is Natural Labor Possible Given The Spinal Fusion And Implants History?
Doctor, I am 10 weeks pregnant with my fourth child (my other children were born prior to the following surgeries). 14 months ago I had a spinal fusion L5-S1, and 6 months ago I had a spinal neurostimulator implanted. I have read information about the hormone relaxin and that a c-section might be advisable due to fusion. My biggest concern is getting a spinal block for c-section or the epidural for the small chance I have a natural birth. There is little information on the safety and use of neurostimulators during pregnancy, I just want to know if I will have to be under general anesthesia for a c-section, or if I will have a chance at all natural labor?

natural labour and delivery may not be a great idea dear.the process of labour can cause significant insult to the lumbar spine .you can of course safely have a cesarean under general anaesthesia.anyway ur gym should involve the anaesthetist and ortho specialist in decision making depending on the support system in the hospital u r planning to deliver
