Is Nasal Spray, Flomist, Advisable Without Prescription For Severe Cold And Congestion?
I was prescribed flomist nasal spray by my ENT doctor when I had prolonged coughing and chest congestion, along with allegra.. It cured the chest congestion.. It has been 3 months since then, and I am now having bad cold and congestion in nose and sore throat, with green mucus coming out of my nose whenever I blow, and I have to keep blowing every now and then.. I have been using flomist nasal spray 4-5 times a day (2-3 sprays at a time in each nostril).. and have also been using Viks Action 500 tablet as I had mild fever and body-ache.. should I stop using flomist as I have just found out that it contains steroids? and do I need to visit a doctor, or green mucus is a sign that my cold is getting better? Thanks for your help

Hi. Green mucus is a sign of bacterial infection - needs proper evaluation and antibacterial treatment. Also Flomist nasal spray should not be used 4-5 times a day. Intra-nasal steroid sprays , when used under proper medical care , are generally safe . You should seek help from an ENT / General medicine physician for examination and further management. Regards.
