Is Mucus In Stool A Matter Of Concern?

I have had a very active stomach for over 24 hours. Noisy and loose stools frequently. The activity stopped about three in the morning and now it is 4 in the afternoon and I had a very sharp pain in the left side of my belly under my rib cage. I went to the bathroom and huge loud gas escaped followed by a very gel like stool.
Is this anything to be concerned about?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

* This sounds to be due to intestine infection through some sort of
bacteria or virus.
* Primary guidelines at present

- Maintain hydration with plenty of liquids.
- Strict dietary measures with high intake of fresh yogurt.
- Antacid or PPI as omeprazole helps.
- Prescription of pro biotic and antibiotic as metronidazole or else, requires prescription of your doc. Regular follow up with your family doc about the progress.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
