Is Moving A Fractured Wrist Advisable While Wearing A Splint?

I broke my wrist six weeks ago and had plaster for 5 days then splint for 5 weeks. Was told to take it off myself I can wiggle fingers and thumbs easily and I can twist wrist but can only bend it forward very slightly. It seems rigid. Unsure whether to force it and see what happens Its is very painful if I do this

hello there , welcome to healthcaremagic,
what your doctor advised was correct 6 weeks of immobilisation of wrist is enough for upper limb fractures. but as you were not using your wrist for last 6 weeks there will be stiffness in wrist naturally if it's immobilsed.
what you need to do is start mousing your wrist. you've to start moving your wrist up and down, circular movements even if it's painful, it will be a bit painful initially but you have to continue moving your wrist to relieve stiffness and to avoid further stiffness of wrist. but avoid over stressing your wrist. pain silver relieved eventually.
I hope it solves your query.
thank you.
