Is Minor Rectal Bleeding Related To Continuous Diarrhea?

I have a stomach bug I m sure and I ve been up all night with diarrea, the last visit to the bathroom there was bits of blood while wiping. Is that normal ? Could it be just because I have visited the bathroom so often in a short space of time or is it related to the stomach bug ?

Hello,

Blood in stools is a very serious condition. You should do a stool culture to check for bacterial infection because shigella is possible. You may need to take antibiotics. Meanwhile you should keep yourself hydrated having more water and fluids especially use Tresol. Probiotics can also be used to help you a bit.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Wishing you all the best.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
