Hi,

Mood changes can occur with hormonal contraceptives. Watch for the pattern of mood changes in the following cycles. Your body needs time to adjust to the pills and bring about the hormonal balance. If the symptoms continue even after 2 to 3 cycles, alternate drugs can be used. Hormonal imbalance can cause acne. Other cause of acne should be identified and treated. Bacterial infection, dehydration, improper skin care, excess oil secretion should be treated.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General and Family Physician
