Is Medication Required For Hypertension?

Dear doc, I have a question concerning high blood pressure medication. My aunt had a liver operation in 2003 and has been diagnosed with hypertension in 2008. Now her doctor won t prescribe her drugs for her hypertension and she is not being treated for this. My question basically is: is this the right action for a physician to take? Thanks, Cathy

Hello,

If the blood pressure is too high, antihypertensives can be started.

If the blood pressure is above 140 it is better to start antihypertensives at a low dose.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
