Is Lumbar Puncture The Best Solution For Convulsion On A Diabetic And Dialysis Patient?

Good morning doctor. My father is diabetic patient and other than that he have convulsions, Kidney failure (Dialysis patient), and Blood pressure..Now he is in ICU due to convulsions and the doctors inform us that they want to do lumbar puncture..Is the treatment can be a better solution??My friends all say it will lead to paralize??

Hi your father diabetic and renal failure on dialysis.
He is predisposed to septicemia and meningitis so lumbar puncture is required to r/o meningitis as a cause of convulsion.
This is a safe procedure and will not cause paralysis. Thanks
