Is lumbar puncture the best solution for convulsion on a diabetic and dialysis patient?
Good morning doctor. My father is diabetic patient and other than that he have convulsions, Kidney failure (Dialysis patient), and Blood pressure..Now he is in ICU due to convulsions and the doctors inform us that they want to do lumbar puncture..Is the treatment can be a better solution??My friends all say it will lead to paralize??
Hi your father diabetic and renal failure on dialysis. He is predisposed to septicemia and meningitis so lumbar puncture is required to r/o meningitis as a cause of convulsion. This is a safe procedure and will not cause paralysis. Thanks

Dr, my mother59 year old was admitted to hospital with high diabetes and convulsions in lower limb. S Diabetes became normal in two days and she was treated with valproate injection and encorate Injection for two days and subsequently changed to tablets cloba on 3 and 4th day. On 5 6 7 day she was completely drowsy and dr advised her ammonia levels are higher and treated. Ammonia levels became normal on 6 day. However her drowsiness is persisting and today is 11th day and in the last 3 days slow improvements are seen. Dr advises now to take lumbar puncture, her ct, MRI, twice taken had no severe problems, except or very little fluid in the brain. This doctor advises that it may not have a major impact. Her EEG taken now shows mild slowing, and too he says it is not worrying. Pls advise whether her drowsiness will fade away or lumbarpunc is essential
I am 76 years old and a week after I was born I apparently looked like alittle wax doll. I was taken to the London Hospital where I stayed for 3 months (1939) and had 12 blood transfusions. I also had a lumbar punch. I don t know why I would have had a lumbar punch and what exactly is it?Many thanks
I received my lumbar puncture results but have not heard from any of my doctors on what they mean. The patient s CSF contains 5 well defined gamma restriction bands that are not present in the patient s corresponding serum sample. These bands indicate abnormal synthesis of gammaglobulins in the CNS. IGG, IGG Index, and IGG Synth are all high. CSF Albumin and Alpha-2 Globulin is low. Gamma Gobulin is high. CSF M Spike is high; An additional m-spike was observed at a concentration of 7.8%. I have been told twice it is MS, only to be told it probably isn t, but that they wanted to see if the tests support or deny a MS diagnosis.
I am dating a man 51 years old, that has been on dialysis for about 3 mo. Kidney failure due to diabetes. I just started dating him and he can not seem to have a hard on. Is this due to the dialysis? Can he take viagra. We have tried stimulation and oral sex. Neither seems to work
