Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is Lowered Sugar Level While On Diabetic Medication A Cause For Concern?
Dear Dr. I took Glim 1mg before breakfast, that time my sugar level was 176. Now I checked after 4 hours. My sugar Level is 96. Should I continue this medicine? If don t take any diabetic medicine, it goes high as above 200. Could you pls. advise. I have taken a little soda and toffee, it shows 114 now.
Hello and thank you for your question. Normal sugar levels are 80-120. A reading of 96 is quite normal. If you are getting readings consistently below 80 then your doctor may need to lower your medication. It sounds like your sugars are in a good range so I definitely would not advise you to stop the medication. Regards, Dr. Robinson
