Is Lipid Test Valid Without Fasting?

I recently had a lipid test at my doctors. He didn t tell me to fast beforehand and I d just had my breakfast an hour beforehand. My triglycerides were high = 242. The previous time I was tested was late in December 2015 when I did fast. That value was 103. My triglycerides are normally at or below 100. I m 66. Is this a valid test or can I ignore the 242 value this time ?
