Is It Sufficient Take Cefuroxime For Pus Cells In Urine During Pregnancy?

Hi im 7 months pregnant and I have 15-20 hpf some in clumps pus cell in my urine. Rbc 8-12hpf wbc count 18.5 and my ob give me antibiotics cefuroxime to take in 7 days she told me that we have to clear this infections before it will affects to my baby.im worried now and I drink lot of water and coconut juice. What will be the effect of this infection to my baby?antibiotics is safe for my baby? Where did I get this infection. Ive done my urinalysis last november.and now february we did a lab test urinalysis and it appear to my blood the infection.thank u so much

Hi. You are having recurrent UTI. It is good you have started with antibiotic. Cefuroxime is safe in pregnancy.It is better if you give your urine for culture and sensitivity also. If not, then repeat urine R/E ex. after 3 days of antibiotic to see whether pus cells are decreasing or not. Some times you have to take 2 antibiotics or continue it longer to clear total infection.Keep on taking lot of fluids . Thanks.
