Is It Serious For A Report That Says The Left Renal Pelvis Of The Foetus Is Prominent ,follow Up Is Advised In The Third Trimester?

hello, I have just received my scan results from my anatomy scan which I had yesterday at 18 weeks and 4 days. there is a comment which says "the left renal pelvis is prominent and measures 4.5mm, follow up is advised in the third trimester". What does this mean and is it something I should worry about? Thank you.

Dear member,
Thanks for writing to healthcare magic.
The renal pelvis is the part of kidney from where urine collects and goes via a tube called ureter into the fetal bladder.
Some amount of dilated pelvis of kidney is ok. If follow up ultrasound shows further dilatation that indicates obstruction of ureter Which has to be assessed.
Thanks.
Dr Bhagyashree.
