Is It Safe To Use Betnovate-n For Keloid?

hi Doctor,i have one keloid which has grown slowly from 3mm round to 100mm long by 10mm wide over the last 20years. it itches and pains as well. all these time, i have been applying betnovate -n ointment at bedtime. should i continue to use the ointment or take steroid injection now? i am 70+ years of age.

Hi there,
Thanks for posting here,
You should not use betnovate N for long time as it can cause allergy due to the neomycin. It can also cause steroid related side effects.
Age is not a contraindication for intralesional steroid injection. If your health is otherwise alright, then go for the injection.
Or else you can use a mild steroid creams like hydrocortisone 1% cream to relieve itching.
