Is It Safe To Use Wysolone 40 Mg Daily For 2 Weeks?

Hi, my dad has a skin infection (red boils all over his arms, legs now developing in a rash) which is not diagnosed yet. His punch biopsy is done & report will arrive in 2 weeks time. He has been advised wysolone steroid 40mg per day & no tapering is recommended yet. My question is...IS IT SAFE to use this steroid in 40 mg quantity daily till next 2 weeks without tapering & wait for the biopsy results? For such duration does it impact vital functions of body / bone thickness? How do I counter side-effects of this steroid though nutrition & exercise?

In short: Trust your doctor

Explanation: I think you have already visited a dermatologist for your dad's problem, where he has started on steroid and has taken punch biopsy for the lesion.
Steroids have many side effects which should be weighed against its advantage. So you have not mentioned your dad's age and whether he is suffering from any Hypertension/diabetes/hypothyroidism etc.
Pay a visit to your doctor once again, till then have a healthy balanced diet and regular exercise.
