Is It Safe To Use Melacare Cream Underarms To Improve Complexion?

My pubics are extremely dark than the rest of my body, since very childhood (when i was 12 or so). I am only worried about the underarms though, as it makes it difficult for me to raise arms in public if i 'm wearing short sleeved or sleeveless dresses. Around 5 years back, I once consulted an skin specialist at Hiranandani, Mumbai. She suggested me to use Melacare cream for one month. I didn't use it then. 5 years later, 1 week before, I jut got reminded of the cream again, bought it and started using it at night. The cream has started showing some positive results as in, today I can see that exfoliation of dead skin has started. However I am always careful about using medicines. So as usual, I googled about the cream, read many articles and I'm now a bit worried whether I should continue using the cream or not. Please suggest if it is safe to continue the cream for 1 month or not.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern.
Thanks for your query .No doubt melacare gives very good results in improving dark complexion of skin. But it should be used with proper care as it contain ingredients like steroids, hydroquinine and teritenoin. These ingredients shows photosensitive towards light.

So first of all the method of using it should be correct .You should apply it at night and wash off in the morning after that you should apply sunscreen before going outside to protect skin from damage .Do not apply it when your skin get expose to sun (day time)

You can use melacare for two to two and half month safely. As its long term use is not recommended due to side effects of hydroquinone and steroids.Slowly tapper off using melacare and switch on to some home remedies like
-Use aloe vera cream which very effective in case of dark skin.
-Apply almond oil.
-Drink plenty of water and eat fresh vegetables and fruits.

You can also use creams containing kojic acid and mitracarpus scaber extract (natural plant product) which are comparatively safer then melacare.

If you will experience any kind of skin irritation or rashes stop using that cream immediately and consult dermatologist.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
