Is It Safe To Use Lidoderm Patch And Amitiza For Constipation?

I have a pain under the last rib on my left side and sometimes it moves over to the right side. I do have trouble with constipation but take Amitiza (1) and two stool softeners every evening also 1 cup of Plumsmart. Would that have anything to do with the pain. I use a Lidoderm patch when it gets really bad and it goes away.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and welcome.

Has there been an established cause for the constipation? I am suspecting irritable bowel syndrome, and would like to know if you underwent a colonoscopy?

I do agree that the pain is due to constipation but the cause is the underlying condition causing constipation? So please do speak to your physician or gastroenterologist about this.

Best wishes.
