Is It Safe To Try And Reschedule The Time For Menstrual Periods To Occur?

Hello. I m currently taking the Aviane 28 day birth control pack. I start a new row of pills on Tuesday. Three days after I start my placebo pills, I get my period (on the Friday), which lasts until Monday. I would like to reschedule the time I get my period to miss the weekend. So if it takes three days from when I start my placebo pill to get my period, and I start my placebo row of pills this week (Tuesday), is it possible to take the placebo pills up until Friday (so not the full week), and then start the new row of the pills? That way, assuming it ll still take three days for my period to come once I ve started the placebo pills, I ll get my period after the weekend (Monday). Is it safe to assume that this pattern will follow and is it safe to try and reshedule the time one s period will occur?

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Birth control pills should be taken as prescribed at same time of day. In case you have missed the pills for two consecutive days then you need to start the schedule all over again.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
