Is It Safe To Take The Nortriptyline For Seizures?

I got my fourth concussion 4 months ago and am still having problems. I made an appt with a neurologist specializing in concussions and sports neurology. He prescribed a medrol steroid pack as well as 25mg nortriptyline hcl. My dad is concerned that it is the same as the amitriptilyne that he took and will make me crazy. Is it safe to take the nortriptyline? They are also using it not only for my headaches but due to the fact that I can t fall asleep anymore since the concussion and the brain needs sleep to heal and this will make you drowsy. My previous dr had me on melatonin and fish oil pills

Nortriptyline has essentially the same side effect profile as amitryptiline; however, the side effects experienced by your father does not mean that you will suffer the same. Hopefully, you have informed your Neurologist of this issue. If you haven't you should discuss it with your Neurologist and report to him any side effects you are experiencing after taking this medication.
