Is It Safe To Take Plavix And Metformin?

I am concerned about taking plavix and metformin. I have just completed a series of visits to Mayo Clinic. I have a medical history of diabetes 2 , multiple kidney stone formation, migraines, mucositis, lymphocitic colitis, acute idiopathic restrictive pericarditis,. I have a family history of strokes. In 2011 I had an ischemic event on the left side of my head, outer obstructed middle vein controlling the eye alignment. In 3 months the condition was gone. I have been informed that earlier MRI s indicated ischemic events. I was placed on plavix by opthamologists . Mayo discontined the plavix and 80 miligram aspirin during the evalatuiions October 2013 through February 2014 due to digestive difficulties. I have not gotten a straight answer whether to return to 80 miligram aspirin and plavix. K L Stutzman

Hi and thank you so much for this query

I am so sorry to hear about this difficulty getting your medications record straight. It is safe to take plavix and metformin. However, am concerned why the medication was discontinued. It would be great to ask the doctors directly why this was done. If you had a contra indication to taking this pill, that might have been the reason. Confront your doctors on this before starting it again just in case they were worried about a possible reason not yo.

I hope this addresses your query fully. Thank you so much for patronizing our services and please do feel free to ask for follow up clarifications and information if need be. I wish you the best of health.
