My wife (28 year old) is 7 week pregnant and this is her first pregnancy. She is having frequent fever which stay 1 to 2 hour. and frequency is 2-3 times per day. Doctor said it is normal and it is due to pregnancy only. She prescribed her two tablets 1) Folizorb 2) Dubegest 200 I found on internet that Dubegest 200 may be unsafe and could damage fetus. Now I am very much confused whether this tablet should be taken or not?
Dubagest is a natural micronized progesterone and it is thought to protect pregnancy in the initial weeks. Recent studies have however indicated that micronised progesterones dont have significant effect on preventing abortions. Another drug called Duphastone (Dydrogestrone) is very effective in preventing abortions, but used only if patients have a previous history of abortions. In your case, no need to take Dubagest or even Duphastone. About the fever in pregnancy. There are several metabolic changes during pregnancy and body secretes many different hormones to help the baby grow. So the skin may seem to be hotter than normal, but not necessary a fever. Try measuring the 'fever' using thermometer and if it is more than 100 degree Farhenheit, then she needs to see a doctor immediately.
