Is It Safe To Take Cipralex During Pregnancy And Breastfeeding?

Have taken cipralex for 2 years, I m 20 years old and we are trying to conceive. I need the medication as I m unstable without it - can I still take during pregnancy or is there a better/safer drug I can use instead. Also I plan to strictly breast feed, will this affect my ability to nourish my baby?

Hi

There are no large studies looking at the chance of birth defects when escitalopram is used during pregnancy. Since it is very similar to citalopram, escitalopram is also unlikely to increase the chance of birth defects over the background risk and it can be used with psychiatrist approval.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
