Is It Safe To Take Amoxicillin While On Acitrom?

I am a Cerebral Venous Thrombosis patient and had a seizure in the initial days of diagnosis. I am currently on Acitrom 4-5 mg alternating each week, Zosert 25 mg and Levipil 500mg. I have severe cough and plegm during the last few days and I would like to know if its safe to start a course of antibiotics - Amoxyxcillin 250 mg. Does Amox interact with Acitrom? My next PT-INR is due in another 3 days.

Hi,

It is not safe to take amoxicillin while on acitrom. Taking amoxicillin while on blood thinner like acitrom may increase the risk of bleeding, especially if you are elderly or have kidney or liver impairment.

You may need more frequent monitoring of your PT-INR by your doctor to safely use both medications. Consult your doctor immediately if you experience any unusual bleeding or bruising, blood in your urine or stools, headache, dizziness, or weakness during treatment with these medications.
