Is It Safe To Take Warfarin For Swollen Foot After Ankle Injury?

My husband twisted his ankle about a week and a half ago, he is on warfarin, the foot is still pretty swollen, he has not been to a doctor, when he first starts walking on it he limps quite a bit and then slightly, should he still go see a doctor this long afterthe sprain? How long should if take for the swelling to go down?

Welcome at HCM
i have gone through your query and being your doctor I completely understand your health concerns...
Is he on warfarin prior to injury?? Why he is taking warfarin?? If he is taking it on his own without proper prescription from doctor then it should be stopped at once since it had got its own complications...
Coming toward the ankle injury , In my opinion he should get his x ray ankle joint get done and consult orthopedic surgeon.
Meanwhile he should take rest and use ankle brace. He should take painkillers to relieve symptoms...
Hope your query is adequately answered
Regards.
