Is It Safe To Take Vigamox For Eye Infection ?

My 84 year old mother was given Vigamox for an eye infection. The infection cleared however she has had a sudden onset of what she describes as a cloudiness and blurred vision. She had cataract surgery about 4 years ago without any problems. We are wondering if the cloudiness and blurred vision are due to the Vigamox or has she developed the cloudiness and blurred vision due to the capsule holding the lens implant that they want to treat with Yag laser treatment. If it is due to Vigamox is it temporary and if so about how long will it last. Could the medication have caused the cloudiness and is the treatment for that also Yag laser. Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Hello
Vigamox is a antibiotic eye drops and it is not known to cause blurring of vision.
Blurring of vision after cataract surgery can be most commonly because of after cataract or pacification of the posterior capsule which is treated by tag laser capsulotomy.
Hence I advice you to consult your ophthalmologist for further examination and treatment accordingly.
Thank you
