General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi & Welcome.

Incomplete data like gender, details of the lab investigations done to confirm the diagnosis like urea breath test and endoscopy, etc.

Yes, it is safe and effective in the treatment of duodenal ulcer.

To be more effective you must undergo urea breath test to detect the infection caused by Helicobacter pylori which is commonly associated with such type of ulcer.
If the urea breath test is found to be positive for H.pylori, the following treatment "Triple therapy" is found to be more effective not only in eradicating the infection but also promoting the healing of the ulcer.

1. Two antibiotics like Amoxicillin and Tinidazole along with Pantoprazole (Pantocid) are given orally for 14 days.
2. This is followed by only Pantoprazole for another 4-6 weeks.

Hope to have answered your query.
