Is It Safe To Take Letoval Tablets?

Hi Doctor ,This is Najya....I got married for 10 years complete. I got aborted 2 time .Now my DR advice to take LETOVAL 2.5 mg tablet for 5 days from my 2nd day of my period .In Kerala this medicine is not available in all pharmacy. Because the government will ban the medicine. Somebody told this medicine will also used as cancer treatment . So please advice the correct way...

Hello Najya,

Welcome to HCM.
I understand your concern. You had become pregnant but had 2 abortions. So the problem is not with ovulation but with continuation of the pregnancy.
Letrozole (LETOVAL ) is an oral non-steroidal aromatase inhibitor licensed for the treatment of breast cancer after surgery.
Letrozole has been used for ovarian stimulation by fertility doctors because it has fewer side-effects than clomiphene (Clomid) and less chance of multiple gestation.
Since you have conceived twice before, this may not be required for you as your ovulation may be normal. If there is any abnormal ovulation like in PCOS, then there may be a role for this medicine.
