Is It Safe To Take Amlodipine For Hypertension?

I'm 43 years old female. Since my first pregnancy (10 years ago) I've got hypertension and still remains. Now I'm using Calcium channel blockers (amlodipine). Recently I've got muscle spasm on my foot and leg mostly under the knee. From time to time I've got tickles on my eye lid.

Dear madam
Thanks for your query.
Yes, indeed amlodipine is one of the most commonly used drugs for hypertension in our practice and this is so all over world. The drug is known to relax muscles rather than contract or cause spasm. However no symptoms should be discarded as "not due to a drug" unless there is alternate explanation or symptom persist even after discontinuation of drug. Do get your serum potassium levels checked. Do take more of citrus fruits, if not forbidden for any reason, which may help in muscle spasm.
