Is It Safe To Have Tonsillectomy While Having Ear Infection?

I am scheduled to have my tonsils and possibly adenoids removed tomorrow and I just found out today that I have an ear infection will I still be able to have the surgery? I have not ran any fever at all and my lungs sound clear according to my regular doctor.

Hi.
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain in case if you have an ear infection and you are scheduled for Tonsillectomy and Adenoidectomy, I would suggest you to first get your ear infection treatment and once the infection subsides you can proceed for your surgery..
This is because throat and ear are connected via Eustachian tube and in case if you have infection in ear you might get infection at the surgical site.
As well as Inflammation in ear and pain can exaggerate when the Inflammation at the surgical site post surgery..
As of now you can start taking a course of antibiotics , anti inflammatory painkiller and Oral and nasal decongestant and antibiotic ear drops for resolution of ear Infection under guidance of an ENT expert..
Once the infection subsides you can proceed for Tonsillectomy and Adenoidectomy..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
