Is It Safe To Have Low BP In 38th Week Of Pregnancy?
Hi Doctors, i am 38 weeks Pregnant and since last week my consultant has been telling me that his not happy because my Low pressure which is on 61 and i am due next week and i am bit worried if i don't weak up on my CSction. please help. Many thanks
At 38 weeks of pregnancy, low blood pressure may jeopardize the placental blood supply ultimately endangering foetal life.
Is 61 lower (diastolic) blood pressure or upper (systolic) blood pressure? If Systolic BP is 61, it is too low and for the safety of the baby, immediate caesarean delivery may be indicated. If Diastolic BP is 61, additional salt intake, drinking plenty of water, lying only on left side position and some medicines may increase it.
Ultrasonography with colour Doppler may help to find out the placental circulation. Also Manning's Score (including Non Stress Test) might be guiding factor as far as the decision of the delivery timing and mode is to be taken.
Please take full bed rest in left sided position and accept the Obstetrician's decision religiously.
I hope this will guide you.
