Is It Safe To Have A Cataract Surgery While Having High Level Of WBC?

I am scheduled to have cataract surgery on January 7th. right around Thanksgiving I noticed a large swollen not painful lymph node under my right jaw line, bloos results showed very high lymphocyte count and a second test also showed a high WBC....should I go ahead with the cataract surgery or is there a greater risk for infection due to the elevated WBC

HI
Thanks for posting your query to Healthcaremagic.

A high WBC count indicates ( commonly ) that there is an infection in the body. Actually a high WBC count indicates the body's immune response to infection.

If the infection is not being controlled by the body's immune system the WBC keeps increasing and in that case you need to be investigated for what kind of infection it is and you need to be put on Antibiotics and infection has to be brought to control before going for Surgery.

Hope this information was useful to you.
Any clarifications feel free to ask .

Regards.
