Is It Safe To Give Antibiotic To Kids For Long Time?

hi my son is 7 yrs old. He is having fever(103-104) from last 5 days due to enlarged tonsils.Doctor prescribed him ibugesic plus (SOS) and Augmentin DDS(twice-7.5ml).I have already given him 2 bottles of augmentin DDS.Now again doctor asked me to give Azithral 200. Is it safe to give strong antibiotics to a kid for so long. Please guide.

Some persons are on persisting doses of antibiotics if the infection persists or in some cases to prevent recurrent infections.

If his infection did not respond to the antibiotics given previously then he would need another course to fight off the infection.

It should not have any long term effects.
