ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hello,
If the ear drum is already ruptured then it should not cause much problem .But you have to take care that you keep you ear dry .
The problem arises because of the negative pressure behind the ear drum which gets generated by the rapid ascent or decent. And so the ear drum gets pulled inside and a negative pressure causes the inner ear to produce vertigo.
But when you already have perforated ear drum this condition should not arise.
It will be better if you take nasal decongestant drops and antihistaminic tablet and oral decongestant tablet before the flight.
In doubt do reply
