Is It Safe To Fly After Having A Pacemaker Insertion?

My Mom had a pacemaker inserted last Sept. On our last visit to her cardiologist they were a little concerned about something they saw when they hooked her up to the St. Judes monitor, and then ordered an EKG and then an ultrasound. They reported back to us that they weren t going to do anything right now... They thought maybe the wire was coming through the bottom or the heart, but didn t see any signs of bleeding, and felt we should not be concerned at this time. My sister and I would like to take her to Atlanta to visit her granddaughter, but are concerned about flying. Please advise. Thanks, Carol Gottschalk YYYY@YYYY 717-891-1340

Cardiologist Dr. Dr Sameer Maheshwari 's  Response
Hi,
This is Dr Sameer.
Their is no risk in flying after a month of PPI insertion. She can safely fly.
Only precaution you have to take is tell the security staff that she has a pacemaker & they won't use the magnetic devices for checking & will check her manually.
Hope i answered your query.
Thanks
Take care
