Is It Safe To Drink Beer When On Prednisone?

Hi I am on my second day of take prednisone 20 mg in the morning with a meal for the treatment of seasonal allergies. ( nasal congestion ) I am suppose to take this medication for four or five days. As soon as I feel OK, my Doctor has instructed me to stop the medication. hopefully on day 4. My ? is tomorrow is Friday ( day # 3 ), in the evening if I drink two beers. would it hurt me ? Saturday nights I am also accustomed to drinking two beers. Thank you for the advise.

Dear thanks for the question.

Ideally alcohol should be avoided when on medications specially hormonal preparation.Prednisolone if taken for 2 to 3 days for some acute condition , will not have any problem with alcohol. If I were your treating doctor I would not have allowed you to take beers. If you insisted I would have gone for complete past medical history before allowing you to drink beers. Morever you have nasal congestion which may aggravate by chilled beers.

So please avoid beers.
