Is It Safe To Consume Wine Along With Intake Of Xanax For Panic Attacks?

I have been a moderate drinker in the evenings for a while. Suddenly I am experiencing panic attacks, so I am taking .25mg Xanax in the morning around 8 and at night around 6. I just took my Xanax late in the throes of a panic attack, and now I am sipping an 8oz. glass of wine. I plan to stop drinking completely with the Xanax, but will this combination tonight land me in a hospital?

Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries

I can understand your concern. Xanax is Alprazolam and the drug is a benzodiazepine drug. The drug results in sedation and is thus a brain depressant drug. Alcohol is also a brain depressant. It is not advisable to consume alcohol while on Xanax. Combination of Xanax with alcohol may result in severe brain depression and this may result in severe sedation, drowsiness which can complicate to coma and may result in death. So please dont even think to take wine with this drug because this may land you in a hospital. Try to avoid alcohol with Xanax.

Thanks, Hope this helps you. Take care
