Is It Safe To Conceive Post Myomectomy With Exploratory Surgery?

Hello, I had a myomectomy with exploratory surgery on April 6,2016 and I wanted to know if it s okay to try having a baby starting next week which would make 12 weeks? My stomach still feels sore but I m back to all normal activity. I just needed some advice.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Thank you for your query.

Yes it is fine for you to try and Conceive after 12 weeks from the surgery. The sooner, the better

I recommend :

-a daily folic acid supplement
-blood tests (complete blood count - to see if anemia is present)
-an OBGYN consult as your stomach still feels sore. It is better to have a physical exam just to make sure everything is healing well.

Please note that if you have been trying to conceive for 6 months, please consult your OBGYN as post surgical complications like scars can interfere with pregnancy.

Hope this helps.
Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.

Wish you good health
