Is It Recommended To Take Zinetac While Breastfeeding?

Hi! Am about to have a surgery for the removal of my hemorrhoids in two weeks time and my doctor priscried zinetac for me to take before the operation. I do not have any gastric or reflux problem and am currently breast feeding. Please what is the effect of the drug on my baby? And is it necessary for me to take the drug for the surgery?

Zinetac contain ranitidine which can be passed through breast milk but is safe for the baby. So there is no problem if Zinetac is taken before the surgery. It is not necessary for you to take the medicine, rather it is just a precaution to avoid hyperacidity since you will have to stay in empty stomach for some time before the surgery.
