Its not a matter of one higher then the other but the porportion to eachother. LDL binds to HDL, 3 LDL to each HDL when you have more then 3 times the LDL then HDL free LDL are floating around in your body and can cause all the related problems from cholesterol. If it is possible to have HDL higher then LDL that would be fine, though i think its very unlikely
