Is It Okay To Have Ectopic Kidney While Being Pregnant And Will This Cause Any Problems?

Hello,
I am pregnant in 18 weeks and 2 days . Everything is okay and today i did an ultrasound but, I discovered something strange and I am really shocked and afraid ,because they told me I have ectopic kidney and it was my first time to knew that. My questions are: Is it Okay to have ectopic kidney and be pregnant ? Also, Is this going to affect my baby or my health ? Can I deliver the baby easily ? Is this will make me feel pain ? because I feel pain in my right side and my doctor told me it is normal or maybe because I have constipation . What I have to do ?
Thank you and sorry to bother you.

Hi.This must be your first ultrasound and a chance finding of ectopic kidney. Sometimes, people come to know about it in old age and nothing happens . Don't worry it will probably not harm you or your baby but you should consult your dr. and remain vigilant and also get renal function tests done in all 3 trimesters. Hopefully there will not be any difficulty in delivery or during pregnancy.
What you have to do is to take plenty of fluids and to avoid any urine infection and follow the advice of your dr.
Thanks.
