Is It Normal To Have Painful Urination After Rough Sex?

I'm 38. My husband and I just had intercourse. A bit long and rather rough. Now my vulva is somewhat swollen and it is painful to urinate. I have never experienced this before, is this normal? I should caveat that we typically do not engage in "rough" play

Hello,

The swelling in vulva is definitely because of rough nature of intercourse you had. Painful urination is also because of same. You can use lignocaine jelly for local application. This will help reduce your pain. Also, ice pack for local application on vulva.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Viraj Ramesh Naik, OBGYN
