Is It Normal To Have Pain In Lower Back And Nausea During Pregnancy?

I found out recently that im 5weeks pregnant. I have been having a lot of abdominal sharp pains. and I get random sharp pains in my right lower back. I am hoping they are normal. I have'nt had any vomiting but i have had a lot of nausea after i eat or when i think of food.

Hello dear,I understand your concern. In my opinion nausea is usually seen in pregnancy. But pain abdomen and pain in the lower back are not features of pregnancy. So I would suggest to consult doctor and get an ultrasound done.My aim is not to make you tense but pain abdomen and backache suggests abortion. It may be just an indication and with apt treatment it will subside. And if ultrasound is normal the pains might be of muscular origin. So either way dont worry .With medicine and good supportive treatment like rest, avoiding physical and mental strain it will subside. So relax. Many with such complaints continue
till term and will have good outcome.

Good luck...Dr.srilatha
