Is It Normal To Have Knee Pain With A Torn Medial Meniscus?

I have pain on my inner knee, likely a torn medial meniscus. It hurts the most while simply sleeping on that side of my knee while my other knee lays on top of it. The injury occurred 8 months ago when the knee was hyperextended in a baseball game, and reinsured 3 months ago in a cross fit session while squatting, I was hoping it would heal, but it is nagging, and I am wondering if I should wait it out, get an MRI or just go straight to the arthroscopic exploratory surgery and trimming if needed. I can run on it, jump on it and still do most activities...just throbs at night and in certain inwards (medial) knee turns. What is the best approach towards helping it heal?

Hi
Thank you for asking HCM
I have gone through your query.Pain can be present in meniscal injury. But mostly dull pain.It is better to get an MRI to see the type of injury, whether meniscus is torn, and if it is torn whether it is a peripheral tear or a big tear like bucket handle tear. Peripheral tears usually respond to conservative treatment.I usually give pressure bandage and crutches and advise quadriceps strengthening exercise in such cases. But if fail to settle in 2 weeks i recommend a diagnostic arthroscopy.Reattachment repair or excision can be done accordingly during arthroscopy. You can approach an orthopedic surgeon for this.
Let me know if you have any further query.
Have a nice day.
