Is It Normal To Experience Sharp Pain Around The Appendix Area After An Appendectomy?

I m 3 weeks post appendectomy. My appendix was gangrenous. I also had a burst pelvic abscess with all the inflammation and swelling this causes. I felt very ill. Now I keep getting an occasional sharp stabbing pain in the appendix area and also around the belly button. Is this normal? I m terrified of experiencing the pain I had again.

Hi,

Mild pain can happen after appendicectomy and it will persist for one or two weeks. If pain persists for long, you can consult a physician and get an ultrasound scan done to rule out any collection or stump appendicitis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
