Is It Normal To Cough For Two Weeks Post Tonsillectomy?

Is it okay to have cough after about two weeks of tonsillectomy? Can the healed scar cause cough? My daughter aged 8 suddenly started coughing which is dry but frequent. She does not have fever. She had tonsillectomy plus adenodectomy 2 weeks ago. I am a bit worried? Please advise.

Hello,

Thanks for your query,

Dry cough since 2 week, could be due to allergy.

As such, post tonsillectomy cough could be due to endo tracheal intubation in some individuals, but it will not prolong for a period of 2 weeks.

In my opinion, you need to visit again to your treating surgeon for re evaluation.

All the best.

Take care.
