Is It Normal For Swelling Of Eyelid To Persist After Having A Ptosis Repair While Suffering From Graves Disease?

HI,

I have graves disease and i got ptosis repair done 2 weeks backand the swelling is still there on the upper left eyelid. The surgeon said that the swelling will go away in 3-6 weeks as the stitches got removed 2 days ago,but i am concerned if it gets better coz it's only the left eyelid that makes my eyes look uneven. Thanks

Hi,

It is normal to have swelling of the eye lid of ptosis repair but how long is the question. It is definitely not normal one month after repair. Is the thyroid levels normal, did they doctor confirm the eye involvment in Graves's. At this time I have many other questions revolving around my mind, I suggest you to come up with more details. I know how odd is it for a women if they have uneven eye apertures. However diagnosis and management would set things right for you. Just wait with time.
