Is It Normal For Pregnancy To Lead To Clitoral Priapism?

Is there any relation between pregnancy and clitoral priapism? I'm not exactly sure that's what has happened with me, it's just a guess because I cannot find any other possible causes. I have noticed that with each one of my pregnancies, I have had some pretty drastic changes in my sex life for the duration of the pregnancy. I am now pregnant with my 4th, and today after my husband performed oral sex on me, the orgasm I had felt like it just wouldn't end. In fact, the entire experience was different, and not exactly in a good way. Then, for the next 4 hours, my whole body felt like it was on fire, I was shaking, edgy, and could barely tolerate being touched. There was absolutely nothing pleasant about it. I normally have a few minutes of sensitivity afterward, but it's usually over very fast, as in less than a minute. This time, there was just no end to it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hello, I would be happy to help you with your question.

During pregnancy, engorgement of the genital area with blood is common. This could certainly lead to a situation mimicking priapism - just like it can occur in men with the use of vasodilator medications. Perhaps the only option for you is to avoid sexual contact during the pregnancy. This could also be discussed with your OB/GYN. It is probably not harmful, but the discomfort is likely to recur with future contact during the pregnancy.

I hope that this helps and good luck!
