Hello.
Thanks for choosing HealthcareMagic forum.
Having open fontanelles is not a big issue if your son's mental and motor development is normal. The only cause of open fontanelles is raised intracranial tension. But you better wait for six more months and still if they remain open then it needs to be investigated.

Have a 7 month old infant born 4 weeks premature, recently began symptoms of a cold, is on amoxicilin. She is under weight at 13.5 lbs, a few days ago her fontanale became somewhat bulged and firm, and her pulse couldnt be felt there. CT scan at hospital showed nothing specific. She also has reflux and has changed formula. Today her soft spot once aqgain became enlarged and somewhat hard, for well over an hour it stayed that way and you couldnt feel her pulse. Her temp was 100.2 nd she was not lethargic. She has been sleeping much more than usual and doesn t have much appetite. By the time we got to Dr, it was once again nearly normal. Dr is reluctant to do further testing at this time, ie MRI or Spinal Tap. Her stools became very frequent an watery this afternoon also, but probably a result of the antibiotic. Of course now we have to watch for dehydration. We are concerned if we continue to just watch and wait there may be an underlying neurological disorder not yet detected, which could become worse with time. We would like to have a second opinion, however, any attempts to get her in another Pediatric office in the next day or so have been futile. What would you advise? Thank you from a concerned Mom and Grandma

My almost 7 months old son s posterior soft spot is not closed , he keeps getting dents whenever he sits in the car seat or high chair for too long and the dent becomes less visible the next day , but still can be touched . Is it normal for the posterior sport spot not to close at this age ? His anterior is still open and I know that s ok. His head has been measuring big from day 1, he is now in the 90s percentile . No other symptoms . Growing well and hitting all his milestones .

Hello, I am 40, male, non-smoker, 6ft tall and weighing 194lbs. I ve been losing weight for the past 5 months. In March I went to my cardiologist to have my heart checked. Since then I am on Lisinopril 20mg to control my bloodpressure. All the tests were fine. At the time of my doctors visit I was weighing 230lbs. So I dropped around 36 pounds in 5 months. Is that normal? Also, it doesn t stop. I keep losing weight. I changed my diet a little bit, but nothing radical though. Less soft drinks and deep fried food, other than that I have decent lunch and dinner. I don t have any pain or loss of appetite. My bowel movement is normal and stool color is light-brown to brown. Could Lisinopril be the cause of my weight loss? Also, I have anxiety and get very nervous with the slidest pain. Could anxiety also be a cause? Your thoughts and comments are more than welcome. Many thanks Michael

I am 74 y/o male who's been losing weight over the past 3 months. Total weight loss has been 3 kilos for 3 months. I have been constipated and my bowel movements have been irregular but my appetite has never changed and I still eat pretty well. I don't have any abdominal complaints. What could be causing this? I also eat fiber-rich foods but to no avail, I'm still constipated.
