Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is It Necessary To Use Braces For Spine Curvature In Children?
My daughter is four and a half and has an 8 degree curvature to the right with the apex of the curvature at the L2-L3. Should she be in a brace considering the amount of growth time she still has left? She also has spastic diplegia cp and Beckwith Weidemann Syndrome with a right side hemi. She recently learned to walk but uses a KAFO on her right leg. Thankyou.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vidya Pai's Response
Yes she will need a brace and will also need to meet with an orthopedic specialist ( bone doctor). She will need yearly X-rays till she has reached pubertal maturity and especially those years as curvature ( scoliosis) increases a lot in those years.Good luck!
