Is It Necessary To Take Antibiotics For Cold While Visiting A Cancer Patient?
My 80year old grandmother is in hospice with cancer. I ve been asked to visit and plan to be there Monday. I got up this morning with a congested nose and ear pressure afraid it might be an infection or a cold, should I ask my doctor for antibiotics? Will it help?
Hello and thanks you for your query. I am Dr. Rommstein and I will try to help you as much as I can with my answer.
the answer is no. Antibiotics should definitely not be taken for these symptoms since this is probably just viral infection and antibiotics may just be harmful and these won't prevent you tto be contagious. You should treat it as any other flu.
I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us. Kindly regards. Wish you a good health.
