I'm 39 yrs old carrying twins due date 17 sep. I'm 29 weeks 5 days and completed my 2 nd dose of the steroid injection to mature their lungs today. My doctor told me months ago he wanted to induce me the end of august and my husband and I asked if we could keep them in long ad possible. Is my doctor preparing me for august induction by doing the shots now?? I have no health issues other than low iron. My other children were two weeks over due and my son wad an early induction due to not responding to stress test so why induce me early now??
Usually such induction is performed if there is risk to the foetus inside the uterus. If you are experiencing less foetal movements, or if the ultrasonography has shown less amount of fluid around the foetus or the doctor feels that the size of the uterus is less than expected, intrauterine growth can be suspected. The very fact doctor has given steroid injections for lung maturity of the foetus, he/she must have diagnosed intrauterine growth retardation with risk to the foetus inside the uterus. Please get the indication clarified from your obstetrician of premature indication. Then you may contact me again by direct question.
